Good News from Senegal

Sorry this is late, but still, good news for a change as gay AIDS activists in Senegal are released.

Each had been sentenced to eight years in prison, on charges of "membership of a criminal organization and engaging in acts against the order of nature."

Dismissal of charges was not a foregone conclusion. Senegal's free press put their liberty to the service of bigotry and spent the previous months denouncing the spread of foreign perversions (blaming homosexuality on France) and calling for executions of queers etc.

Let's hope the guys aren't lynched now that they're out of jail.

Oh, and the Voice of America printed an oddly good article on the subject.
