Big Boar

I saw a boar in the Fountainbleau woods last week, or a blur that looked like one, charcoal black and light on its feet. Marina saw the tusks, so there you are. Before that we'd seen little bits of rumpled up soil all over the trails where some creature had been rooting, and hoof prints that looked half dog half horse.

All boar, apparently. We got lucky to see it when we did. Most of the spottings are at dawn or dusk. We wouldn't've been in that part at all if we hadn't been lost.

Crunching Numbers

"In NH, Mrs. Clinton scored best with women who had lower incomes and less education as opposed to highly-paid, educated women. Half of women who earn between $15,000 and $30,000 voted for her, compared to 29% for Mr. Obama. Just 31% of women with post-graduate degrees voted for Mrs. Clinton, however, compared to 43% for Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton also did well with women who are single, separated, divorced or widowed, carrying single women by 17 points in NH while Sen. Obama carried them in Iowa by 13 points."

Three Kings

The last remnants of ice in New York preserve soot and cigarette butts for a brief posterity. Things are still after-Christmas-slow, though the kids in some neighborhoods are getting their last batches of presents today from the Kings.

I'm going to go visit my sublet apartment today, creepy to see strangers there.
